Gumm and Roan Announce Grant Award for Tishomingo

January 11th, 2010

Sen. Jay Paul Gumm and Rep. Paul Roan recently announced that the city of Tishomingo has been awarded a Community Development Block grant to fund important infrastructural improvements.

Gumm said the $299,999 grant will be used to fund renovations to water system infrastructure – a project that will benefit all area residents.

“This announcement is great news for the city of Tishomingo.  As Oklahomans, we are all aware of the important role our water systems play in making our communities great places to live,” said Gumm, D-Durant.  “This grant will allow Tishomingo to complete important upgrades to their water system, resulting in even better service to area residents.”

Roan noted the grants are made available each year to incorporated towns, cities and counties by the Oklahoma Department of Commerce through funding provided by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD).

“These grants are important for our communities that simply don’t have the financial resources of larger municipalities, but must provide the same quality of service,” said Roan, D-Tishomingo.  “This grant will allow for important improvements to the exemplary water systems already in place.”
