In its Tuesday, Feb. 9, 2010 newscast at 10 p.m., KWTV News9 in Oklahoma City led with a story on passage by the Senate Finance Committee of a bill that would end the grocery sales tax when state revenues recover. The bill is by Senator Jay Paul Gumm of Durant, who has been a longtime supporter of ending the grocery sales tax. News9 Reporter Rusty Surrette covered the story.
Leon Sherrer Highway Dedicated - From KTEN

On Friday, Feb. 5, 2010, Durant City Council Member Leon Sherrer - a longtime restaurant owner in Durant - was honored on the eve of his 90th birthday when a section of Business Highway 69 was dedicated as the "Leon Sherrer Highway." The sign was unveiled at a ceremony conducted by Senator Jay Paul Gumm, Rep. John Carey, Durant Mayor Jerry Tomlinson, and Durant City Manager James Dunegan. A host of family and friends were on hand to help honor Mr. Sherrer. This story was broadcast on KTEN's 10 p.m. newscast on Feb. 5, and is narrated by KTEN Anchor Lisanne Anderson.

A new law by Oklahoma Senator Jay Paul Gumm became effective on Jan. 1, 2010.
