A Brighter Future for Southern Oklahoma

This video is a feature about one of the largest economic development/job creation projects in Oklahoma's history - the Pointe Vista development on the shores of Lake Texoma in Marshall County. Senator Jay Paul Gumm, who wrote the bill authorizing this investment in and redevelopment of Lake Texoma, is one of the state leaders interviewed for the feature. The senator discussed what it took to get this $750 million project, and what it will mean to the people he represents, including more jobs and and an improved quality of life.

From KXII - A New Beginning That Will Lead to a Brighter Future

On Dec. 4, 2009, a groundbreaking ceremony was held for a new $750 million resort on Lake Texoma in Marshall County. Senator Jay Paul Gumm wrote the legislation authorizing the development, which is expected to create hundreds of new jobs, both directly and indirectly, in southern Oklahoma as well as create a world-class resort destination. The senator and Lt. Gov. Jari Askins - chair of the state Tourism Commission - was interviewed by KXII Reporter Austin Wright at the ceremony. Achieving Classroom Excellence Task Force Hold Final Meeting - From OETA

The Oklahoma Educational Television Authority's "Oklahoma News Report" covered the final meeting of the "Achieving Classroom Excellence" (ACE) Task Force on Nov. 30, 2009. The task force was charged with conducting a comprehensive review of Oklahoma's Achieving Classroom Excellence program and determine whether it should be modified to better meet its objectives. Senator Jay Paul Gumm, D-Durant, is a member of the task force and is one of the lawmakers interviewed in this package by Reporter Jason Doyle which aired on the Nov. 30, 2009 edition of the Oklahoma News Report.
